Michael Giuliano of certifiedlean® spent the week of April 19th with members of the Orrville business community. During this week, the group learned about 6 modules of the Lean Approach, Identifying Waste, Value Stream Mapping, Understanding Takt-Flow-Pull, the 6S's, Error Proofing, and Managing Daily Improvements. After an introduction from Michael, they divided into teams representing the 6 modules, and developed their own presentation on each of the concepts.
The team will now work together to help implement the Lean Approach in their respective organizations. In addition to generously donating his time for the week, Michael Giuliano has licensed Main Street Orrville's EntreprenOrrville Center for Business Innovation to teach the program so that the concepts can spread throughout the Orrville community. Main Street Orrville is working on the logistics of this training and will release details at a future date.
"We are excited for the potential this holds for Orrville as we strive to create a Community of Choice," states Darrin Wasniewski, executive director of Main Street Orrville. "And we are indebted to Michael Giuliano for his generousity," he adds.
Initial connections to Giuliano were made through the Office of Orrville Economic Development and then the Chamber's Communities of Choice committee, who held several meetings with certifiedlean® and various community leaders. Through Giuliano's insightful planning, it became apparent that the Main Street Orrville EntreprenOrrville program was clearly the vehicle for implementation of this exciting initiative.
